Lost Boyz CHICAGO

Chicago Union Cares was thrilled to host the Lost Boyz, a Chicago based non-profit organization, at a recent Union home game. We loved having them and hope they had an amazing time and come back soon.

To appreciate the vital role that Lost Boyz plays in violence prevention, it helps to understand the origin of the organization’s name. In a 2017 article in The Atlantic, founder LaVonte Stewart explains, “The reference [to Lost Boyz] really wasn't necessarily to the kids themselves. The reference was more an indictment on the community—that we had allowed things to get this far. So, if the kids were lost emotionally, spiritually, physically, it would have been the adults' fault and not the kids' necessarily. So, that's where I coined the name from.”

Lost Boyz provides baseball and softball-focused training and competition to youth, ages 4 to 24. Its girls and boys, who live primarily in the South Shore, are supported in an environment where they can build confidence, resilience, and good decision-making skills.
